Brian Stafford has extensive leadership experience as a CEO and Sales and Marketing executive in the scientific informatics, software and instrumentation marketplaces.
Throughout his career, Brian founded three companies, the latest of which was ChemSW, a worldwide leader in scientific software, chemical management and environmental health and safety software. While leading ChemSW, he successfully built a team that was responsible for the engineering, marketing, selling and supporting of enterprise software applications to some of the largest research organizations in the world in the pharmaceutical, biotech, energy, chemical and consumer products marketplaces. Brian, as CEO of ChemSW, led the acquisition and integration of ChemSW by Accelrys in 2013 and was subsequently appointed to the position of VP of sales of EH&S for the eventual acquirer of Accelrys, Dassault Systemes, the second largest software company in Europe.
Brian also co-founded Envirowin Software, an environmental health and safety Software Company that was eventually acquired by BLR in 2000.
Prior to his CEO experiences, Brian was a marketing and sales leader for Dionex Corporation, the recognized leader in ion and liquid chromatography which was later acquired by Thermo Fisher Corporation.
His first corporate position out of graduate school was for Perkin Elmer Corporation where he was a sales engineer responsible for helping grow their gas and liquid chromatography business. He was one of Perkin Elmer’s top salespersons for three successive years.
Brian received a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Colorado College and a Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of California, San Francisco. While at UCSF he co-authored several scientific papers in several prestigious journals and was a co-author of a paper with Kary Mullis, the eventual Nobel Prize winner in 1993 for his discovery of polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
Brian is married to his wonderful wife Debbie and has one son and two grandchildren. In his spare time, Brian and his family enjoy the outdoors and spend as much time as they can hiking, fishing and exploring.
