Biography
Dave Seldon brings over thirty years of international business and leadership experience to the Alliance of Chief Executives Dave has run international marketing and distribution businesses in Asia for FORTUNE 500 companies in a variety of vertical markets. Dave’s diverse experience includes strategic planning, business formation, infrastructure investments, acquisitions and mergers, market entry, business development, and import/export.
Dave works for Right Management (www.right.com), a major organizational consulting and outplacement services corporation. He is founder/managing partner of InterPacific Management Group, LLC whose portfolio includes real estate investment and international business consulting. Prior to joining the Alliance of Chief Executives, Dave was a senior executive for a private $1.2 billion global services and distribution company, Wilbur-Ellis Company of San Francisco. He ran the 10 country South Asia distribution network generating revenues of $143 million derived from verticals that included chemicals, agrochemicals, petrochemicals, public and private construction, pulp and paper, consumer products, construction materials, machinery, feed commodities, ship agency, and minerals. Dave has over twenty years experience working in the dynamic Asia/Pacific region and has lived in Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, and Guam.
Dave led the restructuring of the international feed division by implementing a two-year strategic plan to strengthen distribution channels in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan and to turn a major integrated feed processing facility from successive losses to profit or to divest the asset. He renegotiated favorable outsourcing agreements for feed commodities that added capacity without capital or human resource investment.
Dave pioneered the company’s market re-entry into Indo-China by concluding distribution agreements with Proctor & Gamble and Unilever PLC as foundation accounts to support the long-term diversification strategy for this region. Sales teams, distribution centers, logistics, financial reporting and controls, and advertising/promotion campaigns were built and tailored to these unique consumer markets.
Dave was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English from San Diego State University. He has a Master of International Management from Thunderbird Graduate School in Phoenix and completed the Stanford Executive Program (SEP86).
Dave lives in Orinda with his wife, Joan. They have two grown children. He enjoys tennis, golf, board surfing, scuba diving, and travel. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Chambers of Commerce in Thailand and Korea.
