Hara Software Team Wins Camp BizSmart Competition!
August 13, 2009

Camp BizSmart, the only summer camp of it's type in the U.S., brings the founders and CEO's of companies passionate about changing the world together with "Tweenpreneurs" age 11 - 15 interested in causes like, tracking energy use, smart, clean buildings, healthy diets, and solar energy to solve real world problems while developing practical entrepreneurial and business skills.

This year, with the support of Paul Witkay, Founder & CEO of the Alliance of Chief Executives, Camp BizSmart, challenged 46 aspiring, young Silicon Valley entrepreneurs with meaty, interesting and stimulating issues. Amit Chatterjee, CEO and founder of Hara proposed that Camp BizSmart teams design an Apple App to track personal energy use; Maigread Eichten, CEO of FRS tasked the teams with designing a new FRS healthy energy drink for teens; and Kevin Surace, CEO of Serious Materials engaged the students by asking them to design a high "R value" classroom that not only saved energy but encouraged learning.

In a business plan competition that concluded the camp on August 13th at the Santa Clara University Business School, Team Hara 2, lead by team CEO Michaela Kastleman wowed the judges with an innovative Apple App to track energy use. A panel of six Silicon Valley investors liked the Hara Team 2 app design that was innovative, engaging and easy to use with a robust revenue generation model.

Camp BizSmart founders Mike & Peggy Gibbs said that this year was a huge success in no small part due to the involvement of Hara, FRS and Serious Material, all members of the Alliance of Chief Executives. We would enjoy having other company members work with us in 2010. For more information, please visit: www.campbizsmart.org
