Roundtable:  CEO Signals from the Q2026 Business Barometer

Date: Thursday, May 21, 2026
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM PDT
Location: ZOOM

With 2026 in motion, CEO sentiment is no longer deteriorating, but it isn’t rebounding either. The Q1 2026 Business Barometer shows a clear shift from negative to neutral, signaling reduced downside risk without a return to confidence. At the same time, pressure inside companies is intensifying, with pessimism about individual business performance doubling.

Join us for this 90-minute Alliance Roundtable as Jim CookBenchBoard Executive Coaching and Advisory Founder, and Paul WitkayAlliance Founder & CEO, break down what this shift from growth to discipline means in practice. Drawing directly from the Q1 2026 Business Barometer, they will examine how CEOs are recalibrating priorities in a more stable -- but still constrained -- environment.  The discussion will include:

  • Why sentiment has moved from negative to neutral, and why it hasn’t improved beyond that
  • The growing disconnect between macro stability and company-level pressure
  • How leaders are shifting from growth initiatives to efficiency, cash preservation, and operational discipline
  • What a more defensive posture means for capital allocation, hiring, and near-term strategy

Participants will have the opportunity to interact and compare notes with fellow CEOs, pressure-test interpretations of the data, and share what’s working inside their organizations. We will also gather participant input on the issues and questions that matter most as we prepare to launch the Q2 2026 Business Barometer in early June.
