Alliance Member Erik Hayden Named 2025 Silicon Valley Business Journal Newsmaker of the Year

March 06, 2026

Erik Hayden, has been named a 2025 Newsmaker of the Year by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, which annually recognizes the individuals shaping Silicon Valley’s business landscape across key industries.

The Silicon Valley Newsmakers program spans 16 sectors and highlights leaders whose work consistently influences the region’s economic direction. In its 2025 coverage, the Business Journal emphasized that artificial intelligence and commercial real estate were among the dominant themes shaping the region’s business activity.

Erik was recognized in the Developer category alongside other prominent commercial real estate leaders, including Chris Neale of The Core Companies, Case Swenson of Swenson, John DiNapoli of JP DiNapoli Companies, Conor Flannery of Cushman & Wakefield, and Jon Mackey of Newmark.

The broader 2025 Newsmakers list included nationally recognized leaders across technology, finance, and energy, such as Nikesh Arora of Palo Alto Networks, Sachin Katti of OpenAI, Ken Xie of Fortinet, Patti Poppe of PG&E, and innovators like Brett Adcock of Figure AI, Colby Adcock of Scout AI, and Saeed Amidi of Plug and Play.

By bringing together leaders from artificial intelligence, banking and finance, cybersecurity, higher education, sports business, and development, the Newsmakers designation reflects the breadth of influence required to shape Silicon Valley’s next phase of growth. Commercial real estate, in particular, remains central to the region’s long-term economic vitality, as housing supply, office demand, and urban investment continue to evolve.

The Silicon Valley Business Journal profiled Erik and the other honorees in its Silicon Valley Newsmakers Collection, a special edition highlighting leaders across all sectors and the trends shaping the region. Earlier this year, the Business Journal also convened the 2026 Newsmakers at a private event, bringing together leaders from across industries for discussion and connection around Silicon Valley’s economic outlook.

The Silicon Valley Newsmakers program is widely regarded as a barometer of influence within the region’s business community. Unlike single-transaction awards or project-based recognition, the designation reflects sustained relevance, leadership, and visibility over time.
