SUNNYVALE, Calif. /PRNewswire/ -- Covalent Metrology, a leading provider of advanced analytical and metrology services, has acquired Materials Characterization Services (MAT-CS), an Austin-based analytical services supplier. MAT-CS provides scientists and engineers with the techniques necessary to meet their materials analysis requirements by managing high-value materials testing via a nationwide network of laboratories.

The combination merges MAT-CS's 16-year legacy of expert project management and extensive partner-lab relationships with Covalent's state-of-the-art Silicon Valley laboratory and deep bench of experts. Together, the teams will offer customers unmatched access to a broad spectrum of techniques, instruments and scientific expertise.

MAT-CS will operate as "MAT-CS, a Covalent Metrology Company." Scott Baumann, MAT-CS's Founder and majority owner, will join Covalent as Vice President of Lab Partnerships and Engagement, continuing to lead MAT-CS while accelerating integration with Covalent's digital platform and expanding presence in the material science marketplace.
