Sutro Biopharma Raises $36.5 Million

In its third round of venture funding, Sutro Biophoarma raised $36.5 million. The San Francisco company raised the money in two tranches -- the first one, worth $20 million, closed Nov. 5.

Skyline Ventures led this round and put Leon Chen on Sutro’s board of directors.  Lilly Ventures and Amgen Ventures also gave money, with Lilly putting Armen Shanafelt on the board. Both are new investors.  SV Life Sciences and Alta Partners, who have invested before, also gave money this time.  The business has raised $59.5 million total.
