For nearly three decades, the Presidio Trust, led by Alliance member Rich Rusnack, Chief Business Officer, has successfully transformed a historic Army post into one of the country’s most visited national park sites. Through an innovative public-private partnership, the Trust carefully invests every dollar earned from leasing buildings and operating businesses directly back into the park. This ensures the preservation of historic landmarks, the enhancement of military memorials, and the ongoing maintenance of the park’s infrastructure—without relying on taxpayer funds.
The Presidio Trust is widely recognized as one of the most efficiently run federal agencies, operating independently while providing an exceptional park experience for millions of visitors each year. With its commitment to sustainability, historic preservation, and public enjoyment, the Presidio continues to flourish as a unique and treasured destination in San Francisco.
