Making the CEO Judgment Call
Daniel Dargham (Group 321) of Lohika often counts on the opinions of other stakeholders, but he does not set the expectation that he will follow their advice. “In the end,” he says, “the CEO is solely accountable for the results.” Yet CEOs often find themselves at odds with their boards, their executive teams and others over major strategic decisions. Dargham and other Alliance members discuss how they handle these situations – and the risks they entail.

While architecture and design firm Gensler has become a truly global organization poised to benefit from urban development in developing countries, getting there was not easy. David Gensler shares how the firm's initial foray – into China – was rather rough going. Yet eventually, a unique strategy emerged that would prove invaluable as the firm continued to expand.
