The Alliance community is all about our amazing members. Alliance members lead companies in virtually every industry and market sector ranging from early-stage private companies to global public companies. And, to be expected, their personal backgrounds are as diverse and wide-ranging as their companies. We’ve never been able to figure out how to describe the Alliance to someone who hasn’t experienced it. Therefore, we invited a few of our members to describe their "Alliance Experience" using their own words.

Mark Dzwonczyk is the CEO of Nicholville Telephone Company, headquartered in New York State. He travels to the Bay Area to participate in the Alliance. He appreciates the candor of the Alliance and the open advice that is available to him. He feels that the Alliance is a great opportunity for people to share ideas at the peer level and stretch their minds. Nicholville Telephone Company delivers high quality, reliable telecommunication, Internet and technology services to its customers. Their service territory stretches 200 square miles across northwestern rural St. Lawrence County in northern New York State.

Burt Cummings, CEO & Chairman of Versaic

Burt Cummings was looking for a group of like-minded CEOs where he could freely discuss situations, opportunities and strategies in a candid environment. He appreciates the solid feedback he receives from other members of his Alliance group, and the tight bond of friendship that has formed. Burt is the CEO & Chairman of Versaic, an online software solution for grants, sponsorship & donation management. Versaic's clients include Starwood Hotels, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, PetSmart, Oakley, JetBlue, SAP, Panera, and Anheuser-Busch.

Maria Latushkin, SVP of Engineering at Omada Health

Maria Latushkin was inspired by the notion of a safe place where executives can share confidential, top of mind issues, in an open, honest environment. She appreciates the perspectives gained from talented Alliance business leaders who come from different industries and roles. All of this provides a well-rounded view for Maria. She describes the Alliance as welcoming, supportive and honest. Maria is the SVP of Engineering at Omada Health, and the former CTO of One Kings Lane.

Steve Severaid says the Alliance takes you out of your bubble, and exposes you to executives who are goal-oriented with a common purpose to drive their careers forward. Coming from a sales and marking background, Steve appreciates the diversity of members within his group, which include a CFO and CTO, among others, from a variety of industries. Steve is Principal of the Greenspan Company/Adjusters International, a premier provider of public adjusting services.

Dean Tang, CEO of ABBYY USA

Dean Tang realizes that as his company grows, he faces different kinds of issues and challenges. He leverages the experiences and insights of his Alliance colleagues to learn from their processes. Dean is the CEO of ABBYY USA, which creates artificial intelligence technologies and solutions and services that capture, translate, extract and transform information into accessible and useful knowledge. More than 40 million people from over 150 countries use ABBYY products, technologies, solutions and services, including ABBYY FineReader.

Menko Deroos, CEO & Co-Founder of Xicato

Menko Deroos says there is nothing to loose by giving the Alliance a try. He appreciates the environment of trust that the Alliance provides, where he can openly discuss true strategic issues. Coming to monthly Alliance meetings gives him the discipline of breaking up the "day-to-day." He describes this is a "parachute effect" and often comes back to his business with new, cool things to think about and apply to his business. Menko is the CEO & Co-Founder of Xicato. A leading developer of superior light quality from LED modules, Xicato’s innovations produced the LED module category.

To Mathai Mammen, the Alliance is about learning how to be a best-in-class executive. He appreciates the opportunity to bounce ideas and brainstorm freely with his Alliance peers, and describes its culture as "unfettered learning." Mathai is the Senior Vice President of Research Sciences at Merck, whose vision is to make a difference in the lives of people globally through its innovative medicines, vaccines, biologic therapies and animal health products.

Sanjay Bonde is passionate about building something that is good for the world, good for investors, and good for the people who work in the business. He was delighted by the very first conversations that he had with his Alliance peers, which were open, honest and trustworthy. His experiences since then have only grew more positive. The set of CEOs in his Alliance group are very seasoned executives, who fit well with his mental and business style. Sanjay is the CEO of Wintec Industries, which designs and manufactures memory modules and embedded products. He is the former COO of Kiverdi.

Cat Lincoln, Founder & CEO of CLEVER

Cat recognizes that women make up 53% of the workforce today, and only 3% of female CEOs run Fortune 500 companies. For them, she recommends they consider joining a co-ed organization, like the Alliance, where both male and female perspectives on business leadership can be shared. It's also a great opportunity for other leaders in the Alliance to learn from Cat what running a women-owned, women-focused company, like CLEVER, is like. During Alliance meetings, Cat appreciates the process of brainstorming solutions to other people's problems, which she says is helpful in her day-to-day. Cat is the Founder & CEO of CLEVER, an esteemed content marketing and native advertising agency specializing in connecting top brands with influential women online. CLEVER was listed on the 2015 list of Silicon Valley’s 50 Fastest Growing Private Companies.

Kim Weiss, Former CEO of Remedy Interactive

Kim Weiss was initially interested in the Alliance because she was looking for a network of people who would understand the unique challenges that CEOs, like her, face. Kim is the former CEO of Remedy Interactive, a technology company that delivers software to large businesses to help them manage their health and safety functions. Remedy Interactive was named among the “Best Places to Work in the Bay Area” for 2014 by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal. Today, she is the EVP, Strategy and Operations for Enviance, Inc., a leader in cloud-based Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) software.

Dan Peterson, Founder and Chairman of Loyale

Dan Peterson describes the three main responsibilities of a CEO - to navigate, to communicate and to motivate. He mentions that regardless of industry, most CEOs share these same responsibilities. Ben is the CEO of Phizzle, which has developed an enterprise software technology that is focused on fan and consumer engagement. Phizzle was named to the Bay Area's list of the Fastest-Growing Private Companies for 2013 by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.
